The list of influences and styles is long, but there's a heart and soul to Ray and the Detonators that turns the sounds of Golden Age rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and heart pounding boogie woogie into a sound all their own. With decades of collective and diverse musical experience, and an unyielding appetite for making great music, Ray and the Detonators deliver what they promise — 'good time' music for grown ups of all ages.

Many of the songs we play were written by an old friend in Ohio, Sleepy Joe Lee. His songs form the foundation of our sound and give way to a melting pot of Blues, Rock and Roll, R&B and Jazz styles. Add to that a mix of infectious cover tunes from the mid 50's to mid 60's, some shuffles, some boogie woogie, with some contemporary tunes for good measure... well, you get the picture. Our focus is on the 'feel' - keeping it fresh, tasteful, and in-the-pocket so you can focus on feelin' the beat and moving your feet.
